Becoming an actor is a journey. A journey inside of you. With every role that you take on you learn more about yourself, about who you really are. You discover things about yourself that you have hidden away. Things that you don’t want to touch, or you have forgotten.

This journey of discovery, of finally becoming aware, can be so gratifying. You become more. You become more complete.

In this Fundamentals of Acting Course, I will guide you on this journey. Together with others just like you, and completely different, we will start out on this journey of discovery.

You will learn more about yourself and what it means to be a human being, with all our flaws, hopes and dreams and how to bring this knowledge to the characters you have to play. To give them life, dimension and depth.

In this course you will learn what it means to be an actor, what you need, and how to get there.

I love being on this journey. It never stops. And I love guiding you on this journey. We learn together, from each other.

As actor you have to make choices. Some choices are good, some are bad. Some choices are weak and some choices are strong. The worst choice you can make is to leave it open. You have to choose which path your character takes. You have to make decisions about your characters background, that gives his or her character the strongest motivation for reaching their objective. You have to make decisions in every moment on stage. You have to revise your decisions every time that you play and see if there is a stronger choice than that that you made before. An actor has to choose.

An actor needs spirit.

We are doing what were doing for others. Not for ourselves. We do it for the audience. We always need to remember that.

We may be tired. The challenge may be too hard. We had a bad night of sleep. Our lives are crumbling. But when we are in front of the camera or on stage, all of that doesn‘t matter.

In my directorial debut the father of one of my actors was exiled. He continued to play that evening. My wife‘s grandmother passed away and she wasn‘t there, because she was on stage.

I have seen actors get hurt on stage, but they continued to play. My 3 year old son had an accident in between scenes, he had to get 3 stitches. Afterwards he went back on set and when the director called ‚action‘ he continued to play and dance as if nothing had happened.

Whatever happens in our personal lives, when we are on stage or on set, we need to be able to put that away.

We need to be there. In the moment. And give it our best. For the audience.

MasterClass Studio is opening a full Acting Course for Teenagers in English

For the first time this year post-covid we are now offering a full Fundamentals of Acting Course in English for Teenagers.

MasterClass Studio is unique in that we are offering both English language and Thai language Acting Courses. The English language courses have until now focused on training adult actors and we have trained 9 generations of actors so far. 

This acting course for teenagers will start on Sunday, 15th of November, 12-3pm and will then continue every Sunday at the same time, every Sunday.

The Fundamentals of Acting Course for teenagers itself is a 3-months acting course that provides its students with all the acting tools they need for their acting career. It starts with a in depth exploration of the students themselves to discover the tools that they hold within themselves.

We apply the process of exploration, explanation and expression. Studying acting means studying human nature. The same is true for all theatre practitioners. As actors our students need to have a deep understanding what theatre is giving to life, what theatre is giving to the audience. Our students need to understand what the Message and the Theme of theatre is.

In addition to that they need to send these to the audience by being the character they are playing. 

At the end of the Fundamentals of Acting Course for Tenagers there will be a showcase performance to which members of the press, producers, directors and parents are invited. 

The cost for this course is 7,000 Baht per month, with 4 classes per month.

“In a world that sets limits, in a world that says you shouldn’t try, that you will fail, in a world that says ‘no’, we say ‘yes’.” People, Places and Things was a huge undertaking and our first full play post-covid. With a cast of 15 people on stage it was one of our bigger productions. The script is so beautiful and so powerful. I hope we get a chance to perform it again!
